About Bournville Bookfest 2017

Bournville Children’s Book Festival is only in its forth year, but we are already attracting some of the biggest names in children’s literature. Busy Parents Network organized the first Bournville Children’s Book Festival in just three venues in 2013, with a Vision Award from Bournville Village Trust.

The aim was to ignite youngsters with a passion for stories, and give families the chance to enjoy books and discover new authors together.

It was a huge success and the festival has grown fast. This year, thanks to our supporters, we have the opportunity to take the festival to young people across the whole city.

Birmingham is Europe’s youngest city - having the highest proportion of under-21s of any city in Europe.

Bournville BookFest 2017 aims to serve every youngster from toddlers to teenagers, primary school children to young adults, and all their parents, grandparents and carers, with a fun, dynamic and exciting programme.

We are delighted to have forged strong relationships with local authors and illustrators, giving them a platform to engage with young readers.

Bournville Village Trust has remained a strong and enthusiastic supporter of the festival. We are also very grateful for the support and encouragement of Arts Council England, the Big Lottery Fund and the Library of Birmingham Trust, and our friends at Writing West Midlands.
